For the past five, MARK HARMON and ELLEN DEGENERES have been battling each other for the top spot according to the market research company Harris Interactive. Mark was #1 in 2011, then Ellen edged him out the next three years, and now, Mark is back on top. Here’s the Top 10:
1. Mark Harmon. He’s #1 after three straight years as Ellen’s runner-up.
2. Ellen DeGeneres. She slips to #2 after three years of out-dueling Harmon.
3. Jimmy Fallon. This is his second straight year at #3.
4. Steve Harvey. This is his second straight year at #4.
5. Stephen Colbert. He’s up from #7 last year.
6. “Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons. He’s down from #5 last year.
7. “Blue Bloods” star Tom Selleck. He’s up from #8 last year.
8. A tie between Jon Stewart and Tim Allen, who are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Jon is down from #6 last year . . . and Tim is back in the Top 10 for the first time since 2005.
10. A tie between Jerry Seinfeld and Oprah Winfrey. Jerry returns to the Top 10 for the first time since 2005 . . . and Oprah is back after dropping out last year, after 21 straight years in the Top 10.
Bill O’Reilly and David Letterman fell out of the Top 10 this year . . . they were ninth and 10th last year, respectively.
Mark Harmon was #1 among men, conservatives, and people aged 51 and older.
Ellen was the favorite among women, both liberals and moderates, and young people between the ages of 18 and 35. Ellen was also big in the Midwest, while Mark does better everywhere else.
