-According to a new Monster poll, 45 percent of people say they have a work spouse.
-A “work wife” or “work husband” is someone you are very close to at the office, although the relationship is strictly platonic.
-If you feel the need to buy your work spouse a Valentine’s Day gift, Monster suggests nothing too romantic, although they really suggest getting them nothing at all.

With all the long hours people put at the office there’s no doubt we all develop close relationships with our co-workers. In fact, in some instances people get so close to a colleague that person may as well be your significant other, even though the relationship is strictly platonic. Thus the creation of the terms “work wife” and “work husband” and apparently a lot of us have them.

According to a new poll by Monster.com, 45 percent of us admit to having a work wife or work husband, and if you’re that close to the person, you may not want to forget about them on Valentine’s Day. But what do you get a close but platonic friend on the most romantic day of the year? Well, Monster had a few ideas. They suggest a quirky office mug, blocking some time in their calendar so you can share some free time, a privacy screen so people can’t read your emails to each other or maybe some yellow roses which means friendship, although that seems a little too romantic to us. In fact, Monster’s best suggestion – getting them nothing at all. They’re your work spouse, not your real spouse, they don’t need a gift.

Do you have a work spouse? Does your real spouse know about your work spouse? Are they jealous of them?

If you have a work spouse, how are they similar/different to your real significant other? How much influence does your work spouse have on decisions you make?
