Richard Sherman Says He's Not A Villain

Seattle Seahawks cornerback RICHARD SHERMAN says MICHAEL CRABTREE actually started the scuffle that led to his epic post-game rant. He adds, quote, “It was loud, it was in the moment, and it was just a small part of the person I am . . . I don’t want to be a villain, because I’m not a villainous person.”

Seattle Seahawks cornerback RICHARD SHERMAN made himself one of the biggest villains in the NFL with his post-game rant Sunday night. But Sherman wrote a blog for “Sports Illustrated” yesterday, saying he’s not such a bad guy.

He even blames MICHAEL CRABTREE . . . the San Francisco 49ers receiver he ripped into . . . for starting the whole thing.

He says, quote, “I ran over to Crabtree to shake his hand but he ignored me. I patted him, stuck out my hand and said, ‘Good game, good game.’ That’s when he shoved my face, and that’s when I went off.”

He adds, quote, “It was loud, it was in the moment, and it was just a small part of the person I am . . . I yelled what was obvious: If you put a subpar player across from a great one, most of the time you’re going to get one result.”

He also says their issue goes back to something Crabtree said about him during the offseason . . . although he wouldn’t elaborate.

And he adds, quote, “I don’t want to be a villain, because I’m not a villainous person . . . don’t judge a person’s character by what they do between the lines. Judge a man by what he does off the field, what he does for his community, what he does for his family.”

What do you think? Do you think he lost his classy badge or is it okay to mouth off in the heat of the moment? Or, if you have the goods to back it up?
